23 - Greetings! God intended for the man and the woman to have dominion over life.

Take Dominion. This gives you back your control.

The perfect will of God.

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, (women make good fishermen also) and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

God is looking for dominion takers, people who will take dominion over their life. He made us to be like He is with a perfect law of liberty. A perfect heart is a heart that, by faith, commits to a liberty in God. This is not a forsaking of others but a preserving of yourself to fight another day. Take dominion. God will not fail you.

It is like sailing on the ship with Luke and Paul on their way to Rome. I did this when I read the story. A storm came. The storm lasted so long that Luke said all hope was gone. I felt that hopelessness. Finally they turned loose of the ship they were trying to save and committed it to the sea. With fear I grabbed a plank and floated safely to shore with them.

They took dominion over the ship that was destroying them and obeyed God. They committed the ship to the sea. They turned loose of the thing that was controlling them with fear. It was time for a change. They turned loose of the last hope they had in that ship. God did not protect the ship. The sea destroyed the ship. God protected the people.

The wisdom of committing the ship to the sea was proved when they counted all 276 souls safe around the warmth of the fire where they had gathered. Every soul on that ship was precious to God. Not one was lost. There comes a time in life when we must commit everything in our life to God, including people. That time comes sooner or later. There is less risk if we do it sooner.

You are the only one like you in the world. For survival you must believe that and take dominion over your own life. Then search for the eyes of God looking for you. They are in the scripture. He is looking right at you. He wants to show you something. He wants to show Himself strong in your behalf. He has your survival in mind.

It is natural for a Christian with a heart full of love to give. But there are times when you are all given out and need help yourself. To continue to give you must replenish or you are going to go down with the ship. Come on. Turn loose of the thing generating fear. There is the warm fire of the love of God awaiting you. Gather around that fire with the others who have learned how to do it.

After the shipwreck Luke and Paul went on to do great things for God. Luke had already written his gospel before he left Jerusalem. Luke was God’s official recorder of our plan for salvation before the ship went down. Luke later wrote the book of Acts and told us this story about the shipwreck he was a part of.

The Bible was written in the present tense. Read it that way and it will become alive for you. God is an ever present help in the time of need. It is the perfect will of God for you to have dominion. To have liberty you must give Him liberty. Let Him do for you what you cannot do for yourself. Let Him save you from your fear. The warm fire is waiting.
