13 - Give God what He wants. Worship Him with obedience in spirit and in truth.

Greetings!

John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

Give God what He wants. Worship Him with obedience in spirit and in truth.

It is by submitting ourselves to God's word that we become like Him. A desire to be like Him leads us toward perfection. There are times when we can be perfect in love and love like God loves. Submitting to love will force us to release, cast out, fear. Fear and love are opposites. Love has one enemy and that is fear. Love says fear must go. It cannot stay. There is no room for fear and love to dwell in the same dwelling. Love is a jealous God and will not share His dwelling with fear. Resist fear and it will flee from you. Draw near to love and it will come close to you.

Now Hear This! All the promises of God are based on the quality He has built into us. God made man to be like He is in spirit and in image. Man is made in the image and the likeness of God. In Genesis 1:31 He called His creation very good. The promises God made to man are based on this very good quality. Man can love like God loves. That is powerful. When I look at the quality and potential of man and then look at the promises God made to him I conclude that God has some very great plans for people. His word He will do and His word we can do. It is God's dream, God's will, that we worship Him by performing His Word. God made us to be like He is.

The promises of God are made to reveal the unseen forces that belong to our kingdom. These forces can be harnessed by faith and produce great things for God. God wants us to get excited. It is by faith and works that we put these promises into action. By works faith is made perfect. He that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. He subjected us to hope that we might obtain the promises. Out of these promises will come a man that has the divine nature of God. He knows how God thinks and acts toward people. He can ask what he will because he only wants what God wants.

We need to search His word for new meaning and learn these lessons from within. It is from the inside of us that proceeds the greatness that will help us to lift fallen man.

It is by taking heed unto our self that we realize our greatness in God. His word describes us as Kings and Priests. That is no small thing. His word is not something we experiment with. His word we can do.

12 - Greetings to the church without borders.

1 Timothy 4:16. Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee.

Life is so complex that it is a must that we understand ourselves. When we understand our self life becomes simple. Life is simply a number one or a number two. That's all there is to life. Two things. These two things are two emotions that determine our attitude. When we decide to adopt this one attitude then life is only a number one. No longer are there two things to choose from. There is only one and really there is no choice with this one. It becomes a must. With this single attitude we are in firm control of our life. Let me explain.

Out of all the things that can happen to us we have only two emotions with which to react, two choices from which to adopt a single attitude. Two emotions, two choices, two opposite directions that put us in control or leave us out of control. These two emotions are LOVE and FEAR. They are ignited by the thoughts we think. In John 14:27 Jesus said, Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. His peace is our stronghold. Take some time and think that into your memory data base.

All the unpleasant things that have happened to us were unpleasant only because of the fear that we were not getting our own way. Fear has torment. Fear is not of God. Fear is of the devil. Release the fear and your attitude will adjust to hope.

What about pain and sickness.

I have had by-pass surgery. Throughout the whole process I lived in hope. They took the vein out of my left arm and implanted it where it was needed. The medicine caused me to hallucinate. I remember my wife standing beside me in the intensive care unit as I was seeing things I knew could not be real. I ask her to read the Bible to me. She read Psalms 128. As she began to read I focused my mind on the words from the Bible. I remember above my pain and confusion the inspiration of the Holy Ghost going through my body. I wept and said: That’s it. That’s what I need.

Hope is a strong hold of the mind. When I went home I lived in hope on a couch with an adjustable end that would keep my head elevated. My wife was exhausted and needed sleep so I would get up and take my medicine for pain every half hour. I lived in hope then also. I knew the space between the medicines would get longer as time went on. It increased from 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Then it increased to an hour. I lived in hope until I was well again. Zechariah 9:12 Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope.

Coping with the death of a loved one.

When a loved one dies we are faced with a stronger but manageable adjustment. Immediately we are gripped with the fear that they are really dead and we will never see them again. We keep wanting to see them just one more time and fear says they are gone and you can't do it. Slowly we realize they have gone to where they belong. Our fear changes to love for God who knows best. In our adjustment to death we finally come to realize they have gone to where they belong.

Think about this. Love has a very sharp cutting edge. With love you can cut away the emotion of fear and stand there with a strong love for God in your heart.

THE PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY

The joy of my retirement years started when I thought about the message
that saved my soul and kept me all these years since March of 1950.
You can not live that long and not go through some fierce battles with Satan.
I started to think of my many victories and the only reason I won. It was Jesus
and Him only. I will praise Him throughout eternity for it.

When I put everything into the hands of God and keep my peace I am not
acting irresponsible toward my duty. There is a law that lets me do this.
In James 1:25 God calls it the Perfect Law of Liberty .

All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for use.
The scripture for use in what I am talking about today is this.
Hebrews 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age,
even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern
both good and evil.

Exercise this scripture until you can use it to cast all your cares on Him.

One day as I meditated on the Word of God I was looking for some
strong meat. The following was inspired to my heart.

God made us to be like He is,
With a freedom that is the foundation of His creed.
Whoso looketh into this perfect law of liberty,
Shall be a man who is blessed in his deed.

I cannot be controlled by the darkness,
I crave His marvelous light.
The man within me cries holiness,
I must be controlled by the right.

I will search His Word for new meaning,
To learn these lessons within.
For from within me proceeds greatness,
That will help me to lift fallen man.

There are some things that overtake us.
Things we cannot control.
These things are trials that mold us,
Into a man that is every bit whole.

There is a law engraved into tomorrow,
And it stretches into eternity.
It is a law that governs our sorrows.
God calls it the law of liberty.

I'm free! I'm free!
Jesus has set me free.
My sorrow is turned into joy.
Jesus has RESCUED ME!

Here are 24 lines that could make 24 sermons. Each line is power-packed.
Let it be a revelation to you. Read it again and let God inspire you. When
Tomorrow gets here look for it. The Perfect Law of Liberty is engraved
into it. It is God's gift to you. Your liberty is there. Be careful for nothing
but in everything give thanks.

To please God we must give God what He wants. He doesn't want us doing
His work. Don't try to make it happen. The Sabbath (rest) was made for man.
There are times when we need to rest and let God have the whole day to
Himself so He can do what He wants.

Jesus is the way all the way.

10 - October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Is anybody out there? Does anybody care?

This one is about your relationship to your Pastor.

al and jean
Your pastor has been assigned by God to a place of honor under Him. You honor God when you honor your pastor. His authority comes from God. You can not demote him because you can not promote him. You are powerless over your pastor. You can only withdraw yourself to your own hurt. Hebrews 5:4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.

The Assignment: Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers.

He is not a Dictator. He knows that. He has the power of the Word. His job is to preach the Word. Once he does that he releases it into your hands. He prays for you and is available to counsel and help you but you are out of his control. If the Word of God does not convict you, you are out of the control of God also. You must submit to the power over you which is God first and your pastor second.

Your pastor is your opportunity.

Now let us get serious. He is the second greatest opportunity you will ever have. God is your greatest opportunity. Your pastor is your second because he is your go-between. If you will keep this in mind and not break ranks, your pastor will lead you in the path of righteousness and success.

Satan wants you to believe he is just a man.

The exception is: 1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ. Sin disqualifies everybody including the pastor. Pastors have fallen into sin. Satan has trapped many people with the thought that he is just a man. Your pastor is a man, but not, just a man. He is more. When Jesus started the church He chose 12 men. He called them apostles. They had their weaknesses but overcame them with the help of God. God uses men who will deny themselves to win the lost.

He is more than just a man. He is a man guided by God.

The pastor is a man assigned to you by God. God loves you so much He has assigned to you a man to watch for your soul. Love him and make him your hero. All leaders of God are taken from among men. They are flesh and blood with a dedicated heart that want to help and love you. They do this in the fear of God.

The pastor is aware more than anyone of his weakness. Every sermon he preaches, every Bible study he teaches, is for himself also. If he does not accept that he is a hypocrite and becomes powerless in the pulpit.

Matthew 10:41 He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward. If you will receive your pastor as the man God assigned to you, then you will receive the reward of a Pastor. WOW! Think about that.

If you will receive your pastor as your hero you will receive the reward of a hero.

Get behind your pastor with your prayers, time and money. It is the way God does business. First He sends a man to a city. Then He saves people to reach other people. God is in the soul saving business.

You need your pastor. Love and appreciate him.
